Kimberly-Clark has sold its assets in Bolivia to Empacar, a Bolivian hygiene company. The maker of Huggies diapers and Kotex fem care producs had been active in the country for 25 years.
“After an exhaustive and thoughtful analysis, the company has sold its assets, the production plant and the distribution center to the Empacar company. "This decision was made due to the need to adapt to changes in the market, worldwide, to maintain our competitiveness and leadership, as well as ensure that we have the correct structure to respond to the challenges that arise in the markets where we operate," the company said in a statement.
“In line with our values and principles, Kimberly-Clark will provide all the support and accompaniment to our stakeholders, in addition to guaranteeing compliance with our legal obligations, based on current local legislation. “Kimberly-Clark products will continue to be marketed in Bolivia through a third party,” the company added.
Empacar, is recognized in the industrial sector in the manufacture of cardboard boxes, and is linked to the Kuljis Perrogón business group, which two years ago opened a modern diaper factory for the Mi Bebe brand.
