Cotton Incorporated was at INDEX highlighting the use of 100% virgin cotton in nonwoven products. Fabric samples were on hand to show visitors a range of end use possibilities. Visitors were also directed to Winner Medical’s stand, where PurCotton virgin cotton products were being promoted. Cotton Incorporated has been working in this area for three years and has run three successful trials on virgin cotton. “The fabrics, based on ultraclean fibers, card well,” explained Janet O'Regan, manager, supply chain initiatives. “We are really looking to create a full range of products based on virgin cotton.” She added that trials have been run with both Rieter and Fleissner systems. “There are very interesting possibilities for virgin cotton on its own as well as blended with other fibers,” she said.
