Nonwovens Redefine Haute Couture

This morning an innovative collection of nonwoven garments was unveiled by fashion students and staff in the school of design at The University of Leeds, U.K. Following an introduction from Pierre Wiertz of EDANA, visitors were invited to discuss the innovative fashions with the students and staff on hand and were afforded an opportunity to peruse the garments first-hand.

Under the banner, “Fashion: Function in Action,” the undergraduate students worked with David Backhouse, subject leader, and Lynne Webster, senior teaching fellow. The contemporary garments, which range in style, function and and material, are based on engineered fabrics provided by roll goods makers such as Freudenberg, RKW, Ahlstrom and Colbond.
